Honey Bees and the Selfish Tree – A Beautiful Moral Story for Kids

Jungle stories have always been children’s favourites. Filled with nature, wisdom, and imagination, these stories teach young readers valuable life lessons in the simplest way. This is the story of a colony of hardworking Honey Bees and a Selfish Tree—a tale that teaches kindness, cooperation, and why helping others is important.

Let’s dive into this inspiring story!

The Selfish Tree and the Honey Bees

Once upon a time, in a lush green forest, colourful flowers bloomed beautifully every spring. The fragrance spread far and wide, attracting many creatures—including a colony of honey bees led by their wise Queen Bee.

Looking at the abundance of flowers, the Queen decided:

“This is the perfect place for us to build a new beehive.”

The bees joyfully began collecting nectar. But their activity soon caught the attention of a proud Mango Tree.

The Trees Complain About the Bees

The Mango Tree grumbled angrily to the other trees:

“These bees take nectar from our flowers like thieves! And then they build nests on our branches. We must stop them!”

The other trees—easily influenced—agreed. They decided to chase the bees away.

The Mango Tree, being tall and dense, seemed like the best place for bees to build their hive. Excited, the bees flew toward it to begin building. But as soon as they approached, the Mango Tree shook violently.

“Go away! You are not allowed here!” he shouted.

The Queen Bee politely requested:

“Please let us build our hive. We won’t harm you.”

But the selfish tree refused again.

Rejected by All the Trees

Sad and disappointed, the bees turned to the Banyan Tree. But as they approached, the Banyan Tree also swung its branches angrily.

Soon, all the trees declared:

“We will not allow honey bees to build a nest on any tree in this forest!”

The bees cried and begged for mercy, but no tree offered shelter.

Left with no choice, the Queen Bee led her colony away to another forest. There, they finally built a safe beehive and lived peacefully.

Danger Arrives – The Trees Need Help

One day, a group of woodcutters entered the selfish forest. Seeing the dense trees, they planned to chop them down and collect the wood.

A clever monkey overheard their discussion and rushed to inform the bees in the neighbouring forest. The Queen Bee, remembering the trees’ past behaviour but moved by their danger, decided to help.

The bees quickly flew back and launched a fierce attack on the woodcutters. Terrified, the men dropped their tools and ran for their lives.

The forest was safe again.

A Lesson Learned

The trees sighed in relief. They thanked the bees sincerely for saving them. The Mango Tree felt deeply ashamed and apologized to the Queen Bee.

“I was wrong,” he said. “Please forgive us. You are welcome to build your hive here.”

Understanding the importance of harmony, the bees forgave the trees and built their hive on the Mango Tree, living happily ever after.

Moral of the Story

We should always help those in need, no matter how they treated us in the past.
Kindness has the power to change hearts.

Conclusion

The story of the Honey Bees and the Selfish Tree beautifully explains the importance of compassion, teamwork, and forgiveness. It reminds children that every creature in nature is connected—trees provide shelter to bees, and bees protect trees in return.
By helping others, we create a world filled with friendship and understanding.
